Clock cards, sometimes known as time cards or clocking in cards are originally developed for an employer to determine payroll. Employees insert their card into an automatic timestamp machine called a clock machine or a clock card machine to record the start and end time of shifts.
Clock cards and time cards are also used to record the start and end time of tasks or just the duration. They can contain a detailed breakdown of tasks accomplished throughout the project or program. This information may be used for payroll, client billing and increasingly for project costing.
